Getting Information on an Existing Guardianship Any interested person may obtain information about an already existing guardian. The guardian is required to make a report 3 months after appointment, and annual reports thereafter. Any fees paid to an attorney or top a professional guardian must be approved by the court after presentation of a detailed billing statement. Major financial transactions such as sale of real property must be approved in advance by the court. The following describes how any interested person may obtain information. For additional information, you can contact the clerk of the court in the county in which the guardianship has been created. Also, in King County, the court has a Guardianship Facilitator who can answer questions on court rules and procedures. The Guardianship Facilitator is available by telephone, by appointment, or for walk-in consultations. The Facilitator’s Office is located at the King County Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue, Room W325, Seattle, phone 206-296-9297. Please have your name and case number ready if you visit or call the Guardianship Facilitator PAST PROCEEDINGS The court clerk maintains a court file containing all papers filed with the court. In order to see these papers, simply go to the courthouse and check out the file. Copies may be made, following rules of the clerks office. the following web site contains additional information, including how to obtain copies by mail .King County Superior Court Clerk's Office FUTURE PROCEEDINGS Any interested person can file a "Request For Notice of Proceedings" which requires that papers filed in a guardianship from then on be sent to the person making the request. To file a Request for Special Notice, you must serve a copy of your Request upon the Guardian, or upon the attorney for the Guardian (if there is one), and you must file the original of your Request with the Clerk of the Court where this Guardianship is pending. Your Request must designate the name, street address, and mailing address of the person to receive special notice. If your Request for Special Notice identifies specific actions for which you request advance notice, you will be entitled to receive only the documents you specifically request. If your Request for Special Notice is a general one and does not request advance notice of specific matters, the Guardian shall provide copies of all documents filed with the Court and advance notice of the Guardian’s application for Court approval of any action in the Guardianship.
